I am sorry to inform you that the blog will have to be put on hold for a few days, though some of my posts normally take that long. I mentioned before that I am in need of a good old-fashioned surgery to correct a dumb hernia. Well, the Foreign Affairs Office took me to another hospital today and I am going to have the operation on Wednesday. They are having me come in starting tomorrow morning (for me anyway, it'd be Monday night for those of you back home). Then I will be staying a day or two after the surgery, I'm told. So I apologize for the impending drought of new misadventures. Here's to hoping this doesn't also turn into a misadventure. I will update as soon as possible to let you all know I am safe and sound. And if you ask nicely, maybe I'll post a picture of my super cool incision, but only if you ask nicely. Wish me luck!
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We hope you have a successful surgery and quick recovery. Love you!

Ok Matthew enough already!!! You don't have to do everything John does. He has had 2 hernia surgeries; let's hope you only have 1. We are sending our prayers your way. Get well soon, we'll miss reading about your adventures.
Love,
Dawn & John

After graduating with a thoroughly enjoyable and enlightening degree in Classics, I decided the best course of action would be to take a job teaching English in China. I will be teaching the equivalent of 6th grade at a school in Shijiazhuang, Hebei, China.
